Inspire Contract Services was awarded this contract in May 2016. The project was to refurbish several flat roof areas including roof lights. The roofs were over the school’s Kitchen, Classrooms, Offices and Hall.
All roofs were in a poor condition and leaking due to a general breakdown and deterioration of the main roof waterproofing, upstands and perimeter edge details.
The school was occupied during term time whilst an element of the works was undertaken therefore Health and Safety was a major requirement in relation to the welfare and safety of the pupils and staff and allowing the schools daily operation to remain unaffected whilst working above occupied buildings.
During the lead-in period a detailed programme of works was prepared and agreed with the client and was used throughout the project to ensure the schools daily operation was maintained.
Roofs were completely stripped to the deck and installed with the IKO high performance BUR felt system along with a new tapered insulation system. Inspire managed to renew all roofs within the contract programme.
The existing fragile roof lights were also replaced with triple-skin, non-fragile polycarbonate domed roof lights that provide greater safety and much improved insulation and lighting levels.
We managed to complete all the refurbishment works required and hand the building back over to the client within the agreed timescale.
