The Heart Hospital was a specialist cardiac hospital located in London, until refurbished and renamed in 2015 as the University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street. Inspire was a key partner in the refurbishment of The Heart Hospital following its acquisition.
Comprehensive internal refurbishment work was required to various areas in the London Heart Hospital. Refurbishment work was carried out to the front Reception, the lift lobbies, the Mezzanine, the 4th floor Medical Wards and communal areas. All of these areas were prepared and primed to receive a specified Dulux paint system. The paint product was recommended by Inspire and chosen by the client following a review of quality, cost and colour choice.
The project required a range of specialist processes and support. Most of the works had to be undertaken during normal hours due to the hospital needing to maintain its daily functions; this meant that work areas had to be screened off and isolated and numerous measures had to be put in place to ensure minimal disruption.
Extra care had to be taken with regards to the preparation and delivery of works to ensure a high level of cleanliness in all areas. Health and Safety was absolutely paramount to the project as many staff, patients and visitors were all in close proximity to the areas being worked on. Inspire managed a number of consultations with the client before the start of the project to undertake risk assessment and mitigation procedures. We completed daily briefing with the teams to remind everyone of the importance of cleanliness and health and safety.
We were also required to complete some parts of the project outside of normal working hours and provided flexibility to the client to ensure this was a smooth process. The project was fully delivered within the eight week timeframe and budget.
